As most webmasters and bloggers already know, you can have the absolute best content in the world, but in nobody reads it, what good is it? Therefore, we have all had to learn the grueling work of SEO and marketing. Yeah… I love it too. So, when you are out in the world of bloggers, what are some of the things you are doing to gain rankings to your quality blog posts? Related blog commenting? Article writing? Creating web 2.0 pages with backlinks? Those are all good things, as we know, but what many people don’t realize is how much money they are leaving on the table. Wait… what?

That’s right. When you are creating web 2.0 pages… do you monetize them? Most people are out looking for one thing and one thing only, backlinks. They aren’t concerned with all that other stuff, but there is a reason that these web 2.0 pages hold so much weight and that’s because they are popular and they have a huge potential for many eyes to read the pages. So, why not put some affiliate offers or Google Adsense into the web 2.0 pages? Sounds like a good idea to me.

Let’s think about it for a minute. You are out creating backlinks, including many types, so that is the main purpose of your campaign. So, in thinking logically about it, if you do indeed input affiliate offers or Adsense into the web 2.0 sites, and make a couple sales or get some Adsense clicks, you are extremely happy about it mainly because this is not something you were expecting. It’s almost like a bonus of sorts. In the end, even if you don’t get any affiliate sales or commissions, nor get any Adsense clicks, did you really lose anything? The answer is no. You still get what you set out for initially and that is the quality backlinks to your main site from the same different types of sites like blog comments, forum links, article directories and web 2.0 sites, but you at least have a chance to make a few bucks off of the web 2.0 sites. It might have cost you a whole five minutes. Now, you can’t monetize all of your backlinks, obviously, but those that allow it (web 2.0 sites), you should.

The fact is, there are so many people already making affiliate money from places like Squidoo and Hubpages. That means it is ultimately possible for you as well. It’s kind of like getting two birds with one stone. You don’t lose anything, you get what you are after in a link back, and you have the potential for some extra cash. So the lesson today is not to forget that you should always monetize when you are marketing, wherever it is possible. Good luck!
